Education and Spirituality

In 1993, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southeastern Louisiana University.  After working at a local shelter for abused women for 3 years, I went on to earn the Master of Divinity in Psychology and Counseling from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1999.  This was a marriage and family focused program, which also prepared me to be licensed as a professional counselor with the State of Louisiana.

 

Over the years, I have moved completely away from conservative, evangelical Christianity.  After a period of deconstruction (a gradual unraveling, really), I engage in life spiritually but I do not practice any religion.  I’m thankful for the time I spent in organized religious communities as I learned so much through that time. The unraveling of my faith along with exposure through other life experiences completely changed my world view and has led me to be more open-minded, living life in acceptance and joy. I currently see Love as the higher power.  I accept you wherever you are in your spiritual journey and would love the opportunity to walk with you as you explore it.
